Hollywood Bowl – An Easy Bus Ride Away!

Back on July 12, 1922, the Hollywood Bowl officially opened with a program called “Symphonies Under the Starts.” The Hollywood Bowl is a major LA Landmark and hosts world class entertainment events. For visitors, a great a way to get to the Bowl from Pasadena is by the Bowl Bus. You can avoid a lot of crowded and expensive parking, and relax. The Park & Ride Bowl Bus, leaves from Pasadena (Station #5) near the City Hall and is easy and convenient. Here a link to their website with more information about Park & Ride, as well as their upcoming events.

Art Work at The Bungalow

Right now, all of the art work hanging at The Bungalow is from the Norton Simon museum. If you visit the museum, you can see all three originals.
Pictured in the front room is a painting by Eugene Boudin, called Low Tide. The sky and clouds are very dramatic and the cool blues have a calming and relaxing effect on the mind and spirit.
In the kitchen hangs a Paul Cezanne called Tulips in a Vase. The bright colors, bold strokes and flat shapes makes this 19th century piece look modern.
The bedroom is home to a large and ever popular, Diego Rivera, The Flower Vendor.
The Norton Simon has a varied and amazing collection – another gem in our city.

Top-Ten Day-Trips from The Bungalow

#1. The Griffith Park Observatory

Here is a series I am calling The Top-10 Day Trips from The Bungalow.  I’ll post one from the Top-10 each time.

For today, the fact that we are now receiving amazing photos back from Pluto, and it was the Griffith observatory where my husband and I went on our first date, I have chosen The Griffith Park Observatory as the first in the Top-Ten Day-Trips from The Bungalow.  Not only do you have stunning views from the iconic Hollywood Sign to Catalina Island, the museum has wonderful and accessible exhibits about  astronomy and several great planetarium shows throughout the day. Tickets for the museum and shows can be bought at the door. The Griffith Observatory is 15 miles from Pasadena and takes about 30 minutes driving.
